CL833: Medical Products Liability
This course explores the legal aspects of health-related product liability, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and genetically engineered treatment modalities, plus relevant toxic tort issues. You will evaluate the current laws applicable to these areas and how they are applied through product liability claims and through administrative agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The course will emphasize health law issues in product liability and will also cover aspects of administrative law. The course assessments provide you with some hands-on opportunities to apply what you learn in a “real-world” way by completing projects on the FDA and on litigation involving medical devices and pharmaceuticals and by drafting pleadings and judicial decisions to address hypothetical situations.
