University of Maryland BMGT 349 Private Equity and Venture Capital Entire Class

The New Markets Private Equity/Venture Capital Clinic allows students to gain professional experience commensurate with that of an Associate in a Venture Capital Firm. Students are trained to buy, own, actively manage and sell high-growth technology companies in private transactions. The class format includes lectures; presentations from guest speakers, including the region’s leading CEOs, private equity, and service providers; and a series of facilitated exercises that simulate buying, owning, and selling businesses. The course exposes students to real-life activities covering the entire deal process from market research, diligence, selection, negotiation valuing, and structuring of an investment, as well as management, growth, and exit of portfolio companies.
